Beyond a Conference: How the Inaugural She Speaks CEO National Conference Redefined Women's Leadership Events

Denver, Colorado | May 15–17, 2026

When She Speaks CEO hosted its inaugural National Women in Leadership Conference at the Sheraton Denver Downtown Hotel & Conference Center, the expectation was simple: bring together ambitious women leaders, entrepreneurs, executives, and decision-makers for a weekend of learning, connection, and growth.

What happened instead was something far more remarkable.

Over the course of two and a half days in Denver, an unexpected realization emerged among attendees, speakers, sponsors, and leadership partners alike. The future of leadership development may no longer belong to large mass produced conferences with thousands of attendees competing for access and attention; it may just belong to something far more intentional - intentionally more intimate gatherings that create proximity.

When a Conference Becomes a Mastermind

As the weekend unfolded, the traditional conference format naturally evolved into something that felt more like an executive mastermind experience.

Attendees weren't simply sitting in the audience listening to presentations. They were engaging directly with our sponsors and speakers, collaborating with fellow leaders, sharing challenges openly, and building relationships that extended well beyond business cards and LinkedIn connections.

Many attendees remarked that they had received more direct access to speakers, sponsors, and fellow executives than they typically experience at much larger conferences.

Our content programming was intentionally built around a specific format so that instead of rushing from session to session, women found themselves engaged in meaningful conversations that continued long after presentations ended.

Instead of navigating different networking rooms, they were able to build authentic relationships with decision-makers, founders, executives, investors, and industry experts where everyone was all in the same space.

The result was a level of engagement that many participants described as both refreshing and transformational.

Proximity Creates Opportunity

One of the most powerful themes to emerge from the weekend was an idea that became almost impossible to ignore: Proximity creates opportunity.

When leaders have direct access to one another, opportunities naturally follow.

Partnership discussions happened between sessions, and thereafter over the last few weeks.

Business collaborations were explored over coffee.

Mentorship relationships were formed during networking events.

Strategic introductions happened organically throughout the conference.

For many attendees, the greatest value was found in the conversations happening around our sessions, workshops, and offsite activations.

The conference created an environment where women could move beyond transactional networking and into meaningful relationship-building with people who could help accelerate their personal and professional growth.

At a time increasingly dominated by digital communication, the power of genuine human connection proved to be one of the event's most valuable outcomes.

A National Community Comes Together

As a first-year national conference, one of the most encouraging indicators of success was the geographic diversity represented throughout the event.

More than 95 percent of attendees traveled from outside Colorado, with women joining from across the United States and internationally from countries including Germany, Canada, and Spain.

Particularly strong participation came from leaders throughout the Midwest, in industries such as state and city government, healthcare, financial services, and technology, demonstrating the growing demand for leadership development experiences that combine executive education, meaningful networking, and community-building.

Women traveled thousands of miles not simply to attend another conference, but to be part of a community focused on leadership growth, visibility, influence, and impact.

That level of commitment reinforced what many already suspected: women leaders are actively seeking environments that go beyond inspiration and deliver genuine connection, actionable education, and access to opportunity.

Modern Leadership Requires Modern Skills

While leadership development remained central to the conference experience, the programming intentionally focused on preparing women leaders for the realities of today's rapidly changing business environment.

Sessions included hands-on discussions and workshops covering artificial intelligence (AI), emerging technologies, leadership strategy, business growth, personal branding, executive visibility, and organizational leadership.

Conversations surrounding AI governance, implementation strategies, ethical guardrails, and practical applications reflected the growing need for leaders to understand not only how artificial intelligence is changing business, but how to lead responsibly through that change.

Attendees explored tactical approaches to leveraging AI tools within their organizations while maintaining human-centered leadership principles.

The result was a conference experience designed not only to inspire leaders but to equip them with practical skills they could immediately implement within their businesses, organizations, and teams.

Access Beyond the Main Stage

Another distinctive element of the conference was the level of direct support available to attendees.

Throughout the weekend, our She Speaks CEO Founder, Priscilla Nakane, conducted one-on-one strategy and consulting sessions with participants, offering personalized guidance on business growth, leadership positioning, visibility strategy, partnerships, and organizational development.

These sessions became one of the most appreciated components of the event experience.

For many attendees, having direct access to experienced leadership advisors, speakers, and sponsors created opportunities for problem-solving and strategic planning that simply aren't possible in larger conference environments.

The ability to move from inspiration to implementation became one of the defining characteristics of the event.

The Power of Strategic Partnerships

The success of the inaugural conference was made possible through the support of a growing network of corporate and community partners who recognize the importance of investing in women leaders.

Sponsors and partners included F1 Arcade, Self-Publishing.com, Visit Denver, EisnerAmper, Marblism, Envo Water by Cintron, QueenCare, and other organizations committed to empowering women through leadership development, entrepreneurship, innovation, and business growth.

Additionally, Second Chance Global, a Nashville-based nonprofit organization, was selected as the inaugural social impact community partner in an effort to highlight the duality of their work with both women and children across their nonprofit initiatives, Purpose Project and YourYesMatters.org, a mission commitment extremely important to She Speaks CEO founder Priscilla Nakane.

These partnerships represented more than sponsorship placements.

They represented a shared belief that investing in women's leadership creates lasting impact across industries, organizations, communities, and lives.

The conference also demonstrated the value of highly integrated partnership opportunities that extend beyond a single event and into a larger leadership ecosystem, including the She Speaks CEO Magazine, the exclusive She Speaks CEO Circle Community, and various national and international events, activations, and gatherings - a unique structure of sponsorship ROI exclusively offered through partnerships with the She Speaks CEO organization.

A Founder-Led Vision Built Without Institutional Backing

Perhaps one of the most unique aspects of the She Speaks CEO story is how it was built.

Unlike many leadership organizations that launch with institutional support, venture funding, major corporate backing, or association infrastructure, She Speaks CEO was built independently through founder vision, strategic partnerships, and relentless execution.

Founder Priscilla Nakane developed the conference concept with a highly intentional focus on quality relationships, executive-level experiences, and long-term community development.

That vision successfully attracted enterprise-level partnerships and sponsorship support from nationally recognized brands while maintaining the personalized experience that attendees consistently praised throughout the weekend.

The conference became proof that purpose-driven leaders and the communities they build can achieve meaningful impact without sacrificing authenticity, accessibility, or mission alignment.

More Than a Conference

Perhaps the most important realization to emerge from Denver is that She Speaks CEO was never intended to be just a conference.

The conference was always one component of a much larger vision.

Today, that vision continues to expand into a comprehensive leadership ecosystem designed to support women throughout their professional journeys.

From a membership-based leadership community and executive networking opportunities to a growing national publication dedicated to elevating women leaders, She Speaks CEO is building a platform that extends far beyond a single annual event.

The expansion of She Speaks CEO Magazine, growing corporate partnerships, leadership development programming, executive visibility opportunities, and strategic community-building initiatives all reflect an emerging model for how modern leadership organizations can create lasting value.

Brands increasingly recognize the power of participating in ecosystems rather than isolated sponsorship opportunities.

Women leaders increasingly seek communities rather than conferences.

So the signals that the future appears to belong to organizations capable of creating meaningful connections across multiple touchpoints throughout the year are validated in the unique proff of concept that She Speaks CEO Women in Leadership Organization is spearheading in the women's leadership space.

The Future of Women's Leadership Events

The inaugural She Speaks CEO National Women in Leadership Conference may have started as a conference, but what emerged was something larger.

It became a proof of concept.

Proof that meaningful access can outperform scale.

Proof that an intentional community can create deeper engagement over crowded convention halls.

And perhaps most importantly, proof that women leaders are ready for a new model of leadership development - one built around connection, collaboration, visibility, innovation, and impact. One that reflects the very foundation of the She Speaks CEO Women in Leadership Ecosystem.

As She Speaks CEO continues expanding its leadership ecosystem, Denver may ultimately be remembered not simply as the organization's first national conference, but as the moment the conversation around women's leadership conferences began to shift from bigger events to better experiences.

The momentum generated in Denver is already shaping what's next. In 2027, She Speaks CEO plans to take its leadership ecosystem beyond the United States with its first international member activation in Cannes, France during Cannes Lions - bringing together members for an intimate executive experience during one of the world's premier gatherings for creativity, marketing, innovation, and leadership.

Later in September 2027, She Speaks CEO will host its second annual National Women in Leadership Conference on the West Coast, continuing to build upon the intentional, high-touch model first established in Denver. Through additional programming and leadership development offerings inside their network, the She Speaks CEO Women in Leadership Organization continues to expand as the intentional community network for professional women, CEOs, entrepreneurs, founders, and women in leadership.
